South American Destinations

The continent of South America is relatively isolated, lying in the western hemisphere with thousands of miles of ocean to either side, and predominately within the southern hemisphere, connect to North America only by the small isthmus of Panama. This separation from much of the rest of the world has resulted in a unique culture and lifestyle for the South American peoples.
The continent is made up of 12 individual countries, each with some vast differences. This makes it intriguing for travelers. South American destinations can be the modern cities, such as Rio De Janeiro or Buenos Aires to the rural villages of the Chilean Andes or the ancient sites of Peru such as Machu Pichu. Throughout, the people have mixed the traditions of their native tribes with those of the Italian and German immigrants who came in mass, to create a unique culture.
South American destinations are also filled with a dramatic diversity of landscapes. The rain forests of the Amazon, the rugged Andes, the glacier fields of Patagonia are all here, as are both the world’s tallest waterfall and it’s largest.
