For us, Sites of Remembrance are a very important part of our travels. Our history is a big part of who we are as individuals, as countries, and as peoples. Our pasts are filled with moments of grandeur, and moments of atrocity. It is by remembering and honoring these moments in our history that we can seek to replicate our very best. We also need reminders of just how horrible we are capable of being, so that we can always seek to improve, and learn from the gross mistakes of our past.
In our sites of remembrance stories, we visit the sites and memorials that preserve this history, so that it lives on as a part of our culture, that we may all learn from it. Sometimes these stories are hard to write, and may take us some time. We have to get our heads around our experience, to come to terms with what we have learned about our people, and ourselves.
